6 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT ME

CAT LOVER

For 20 years I lived with a beautiful tabby named Indra. She was my treasured companion! I’ve always got her with me in my mind and heart. Following her passing over I had a portrait tattoo of her done. Right now, I live with a new cat named Brahma Bang Bang. If you and I are doing our session together on Skype and you see a streak of grey dashing behind me it’s not a ghost: that’s him!

FROM FUNK TO OPERA

I’m a huge music lover, I DJ’d professionally for years: funk, hip-hop mainly and some techno. I played Bass guitar in bands for about 10 years and ran music a range of different events. I love all music, even opera and classical. I don’t judge it, if it speaks to me and i like it; that is all that matters.

THE PERFECT BALANCE

“Its great to do something really physical! It’s awesome for keeping me focused and I find it super-therapeutic.” David John.

When you spend most of your day in your head and your heart doing the work i do, Its important to get into your body. I head to the gym 2-3 times a week and also do kickboxing. At other times i get on my skateboard.

GREEN THUMB

A connection with nature is really important to me. I love gardening. Like the kickboxing, it gets me back into my body. Out in the garden I have heaps of lovely plants, herbs and veggies. Having flowers in the garden is fantastic also, which is why I buy myself flowers regularly to have around the house.

SHHHH… NO TALKING!

Staying connected to my own inner voice and my own intuition has been the most important practice in my life. Not just for my professional career, also personally for my own peace of mind. I go on retreat regularly for a few days, and once or twice a year I do a silent retreat. Now that I’m on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland there is a Vipassana retreat centre, and a Buddhist Temple nearby that I go to. “I never come out the same person after completing Vipassana.” David John

BEACH BOY

Even though I’m originally from Melbourne, I was drawn to Queensland and first the Gold Coast, then the Sunshine Coast because I love being at the beach and go there as much as I can. It’s a great place to meditate and be with myself and nature.
